History, nonfiction, and a whole lot of girl power.

I knew I would be able to read more than 100 books in a calendar year. I'm a speed reader, so making my way through all those pages wouldn't be a problem for me. I was more worried about finding 100 books that I wanted to read. After the first few months, when I was about 40 books in, I had a new problem. How was I going to pick my favorites?

While I do keep track of the books I read regularly, I don't ever want to force-read a set amount ever again. But my horizons have been thoroughly expanded--my top ten includes a handful of nonfiction--and without our challenge, we wouldn't have The Book Bitches! This list has something for everyone; I would recommend each of these books to nearly every reader out there.

We've written reviews on all of these books, but they haven't all been published. We'll continue to update this post as the reviews have been published!

In order, with #1 being my absolute favorite of 2019!

7. Know My Name Chanel Miller

6. Unsheltered Barbara Kingsolver Read review here

5. The Nickel Boys Colson Whitehead Read review here
