14 Comedian Memoirs That Made Me Laugh

I don’t like celebrity memoirs. Most of the time, it’s highly unlikely that the celeb even wrote the book.
Most of the time, I don’t really care what they have to say. Yes, I know there are some really powerful and inspiring stories famous people have to share, and some really crazy or interesting ones, but then there’s also this.
But this is about a sub-class of celebrity, the comedian, whose job is to make us laugh.
Comedian memoirs can be raw, revealing, and relevant. Even if the stories are serious, they’re sprinkled with uproariously funny bits, and like the standup acts that got so many of them started, their uncomfortable-but-real stories are oftentimes self-deprecatingly relatable. If you didn’t already love this group of funny people, these books will definitely make you stan.
Tiffany Haddish The Last Black Unicorn
Steve Martin Born Standing Up
Sarah Silverman The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee
Nora Ephron I Feel Bad About My Neck
Whitney Cummings I’m Fine…And Other Lies
Eddie Huang Fresh Off the Boat
Mindy Kaling Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
Tina Fey Bossypants
Amy Poehler Yes Please
Joan Rivers Diary of a Mad Diva
Trevor Noah Born a Crime
Phoebe Robinson Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay
P.S. When I was in college, I loved me some Amy Schumer and Chelsea Handler. I have read all of Chelsea’s books and read Schumer’s as well, but I think that there are WAY better comedians out there who can write better, tell better jokes, and are more diverse/better represent what The Book Bitches look for in a good comedian memoir. Thoughts?
